Hedgehog Class

Spring Term 2018

It has been a busy few weeks in the Hedgehog and Squirrel Class. We can hardly believe that we are in the spring term already! We are so proud of how far they have all come.

The children have shown a real interest in animals that live in the home. We are going to be using books and the computer to find out lots of information about different kinds of pets. We may even get a visit from a real pet! We hope to use our questioning skills to find out information from the owner. We will also be using our careful counting skills to make tally charts. I wonder what will be the most popular pet in Year R? We will also be practising looking after different pets in our classroom vets.

In Phonics we are currently learning digraphs, trigraphs, high-frequency and tricky words. We will be using our Phonic knowledge to read and write words/captions. The children have loved showing us what they can do in our ‘Writing Raffle’. In Maths we are practising our careful counting and how to add and take away numbers.

As ever we encourage you to read at home with your child on at least three occasions during the week. This has a significant impact on the children’s learning in school. Our open classroom is on every Wednesday after school. Please feel free to drop in for 10 minutes and share your child’s learning.

Thank you for your continued support.
